4x5 Requirements

Staying within the boundaries

4x5

Each and every piece entered must fit within the 4 inch by 5 inch parameters, no bigger or smaller. What goes in the space is up to you and your student.

2D Requirements

The actual artwork itself must be 4 inches by 5 inches in size.  The 4-inchby 5-inch piece must then be matted with a single, 2-inch mat (black or white in color).  The outer dimension of the entire piece including the 2-inch mat should then be 8 inches by 9 inches. See Instructions for more.

3D Requirements

The actual artwork itself must be 4”x5”x4”, 4”x5”x5”, or 4”x4”x5”.  No dimension shall be smaller than 4 inches or larger than 5 inches.  Sculpture in the round are to be displayed on a wooden pedestal/base.  The pedestal/base must be 4 inches by 5 inches by 1 inch.  The pedestal/base must not exceed 1 inch in height (so a base constructed from a typical 1” x 4” board from a hardware store would be appropriate).  The base must be painted black (flat finish) and is not to be included in the final dimensions of the finished artwork. See Instructions for more.

Relief Requirements

Relief work may include a hanging devise.  It would be greatly appreciated, especially for pieces that are heavier in weight (pieces are generally hung with steel thumbtacks, so please keep that in mind).  “Identity” labels must be attached to the lower right corner of the relief piece. See Instructions for more.
