Since its inception in 2013, Art ConnectED has facilitated over $290 MILLION in tuition scholarship offers to senior artists from colleges nationwide. These opportunities never existed before! Many of these recipients include students and parents who did not think college was a possibility for their family situation. Started by a few teachers in 2013, the IHSAE has grown to include over 13 teacher directors and 20+ regular volunteers implementing programming that has impacted 150 high school visual art programs, and over 1,200 students annually. Demographics bridge city, suburban, public, and private schools across the Chicagoland area and all of Illinois.
Actualizing our 5-year plan in 3 with minimal supports and teachers donating much of their time to our work, we have since become uniquely positioned and staffed to support educational programming and creation from a multifaceted approach. The IHSAE continues to grow, and we now support teachers with innovative projects, offer workshops for teachers, arts organization leaders, and national post-secondary institutions, provide venues for teacher creation and curation, host advocacy exhibitions for policy leaders, developed various art-making competitions, are working to generate community art projects, and are committed to supporting the visual arts in new and innovative ways. |
The purpose of the Illinois Art Education Association is the improvement and advancement of visual arts education in schools and through other organizations in the state. They believe the visual arts are a powerful, humanizing force in culture and education, enriching the lives and endeavors of humankind. In education, the visual arts provide a valuable means by which aesthetic and creative qualities are experienced and critically understood. It is our purpose to promote and maintain the
highest possible quality of instruction in visual arts programs wherever they exist in the State of Illinois. |
Founded in 1982, by a small group of artists and arts administrators to combat the threatened elimination of state funding for the arts in Illinois, the Alliance has become the largest statewide arts advocacy network in the country. Through research, collaboration with policymakers and public agencies, and communications, the Alliance advances widespread support of all the arts and cultural sector, by fostering a climate in which the broadest spectrum of artistic expression can flourish.

Visually Interested Parents began our “Art Booster” organization in 2013 and have been growing ever since. Our main objective is to support and promote the Oswego High School Visual Arts Department and its programs. Some highlights of what we do: Sponsor and help with the Chicagoland 4x5 High School Art Exhibition, drop off and pick-up student art for shows we are involved with Run a greeting card fundraiser, help at the OHS “Future Panther Night” every January. Run a booth at our annual Oswego Art Show/NAHS Induction Ceremony. Offer a scholarship each spring to a student continuing on to pursue art. We designed the first-ever art patches to sell for the Lettermen’s jackets. We also designed and sell vehicles stickers to promote OHS art. Our VIP club is now incorporated. We are very proud of what we have accomplished so far – and look forward to continuing on with even more new ideas.
